A surprising number of moms say their young adult children are not capable of living independently and successfully in the adult world.
The NHP Foundation surveyed 1,000 moms and nearly 63% said their adult children aren’t prepared to live on their own, aside from current costly housing issues. Just on matters of practicality.
Gregg Murset is a certified financial planner and the CEO of Busykid, a website that prepares kids for a financially responsible life. It helps simplify and chart chores and allowance. Murset says preparing and not overindulging your kids is key to raising a successful adult.
“At the end ofthe day, it comes down to a few fundamental things that parents need to help their kids with. First, they need to teach them work ethics and second, they need to teach them how to manage their money.”
Future problems like not having enough money for rent, groceries, car payments, insurance, phone bills and other expenses of adulthood can be solved with preparation and practice.
