“Sometimes it seems like a second has passed, sometimes it feels like a million years have gone by. It’s odd”
That’s actor Bobby Moynihan commenting on what life was like during his nine seasons on Saturday Night Live. Bobby says he loved working on the live show, but he’s moved on. His latest project is an animated feature called The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature featuring an all star cast. He plays the mayor. Bobby says working as a voice actor verses a live performer is very different.
“You know at SNL, you’re playing these characters and you’re on live television and everything you do is scrutinized. Because of the show’s history it’s on forever. People are going back and watching that thing you did once. For animation, you can wear whatever you want, you can roll in your pj’s or whatever you want. You can be as silly as you want, and try out as many voices, do different versions of each line and just sit there. Then a very talented group of people make your acting choices and your facial expressions and then they choose what version they want you to sound like. It’s very interesting and almost more rewarding in a way, because you’re doing something and months or years later, you get to see the finished product.”
The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature is in theaters nationwide.
