You may soon be getting fewer parking tickets in Los Angeles.
Jay Beeber, Executive Director of Safer Streets LA, has been leading an effort to reform the City’s abusive parking policies, and L.A.’s leaders are responding.
“We have been part of a working group that a number of years ago started work to see how we can improve the parking experience here in Los Angeles and we made a number of recommendations and one of the recommendations was that there was no reason to prevent people from parking on a street once the street sweeper went by, so we suggested that the city put GPS units on all of the street sweepers, because they had no idea where the street sweepers were at any particular time and we said once you do that you’ll know what the route is and when they’re all finished on a particular street and you can let people park there again.”
The pilot program will first be tested in West L.A. and Woodland Hills.
