Caleb O’Neil wants to go back to school. But the Trump supporter has been suspended by Orange Coast Community College for posting a video of Olga Perez Stable Cox, his human sexuality instructor, delivering a rant about the President and strongly insinuating that his new administration is essentially a terroristic force for right-wing intolerance.
Caleb’s lawyer is William Becker, President of Freedom X, a non-profit dedicated to protecting free speech for religious and political conservatives. He says the problem is that left-wing political bias is baked into the state’s public education system, stifling any chance for meaningful debate.
“If this had been an instructor who was delivering a pro-Trump message, you know that the instructor would have been punished and the kid who’s videotaping it would have been called a hero.”
Becker says he is prepared to sue for “First Amendment Retaliation.”
“In this case, Caleb had conspicuously worn his Make America Great Again hat and his Vote for Trump t-shirt, his Hillary for Prison t-shirt, his Don’t Tread on Me t-shirt and similar conservative clothing. She was targeting him directly and he knew it. And he did not want his grade to go down.”
Becker says Caleb took the video to the college’s Republican club and asked them for advice. They told him to take the video to the college’s administrators. Becker says Caleb had no intention of posting the video online.
“In fact he didn’t even have a Facebook page – doesn’t know how to use it.”
