Not all Democrats are happy 84-year old Senator Dianne Feinstein is running for reelection. If she were to win, it would be her fifth six-year term as senator and extend past her 91st birthday.
California State Senator Kevin de Leon has gone after Feinstein on gun control, healthcare and not being hard enough on President Trump and a California congressman is calling on his fellow Democrats to challenge her in the Primary. But can anyone take on DiFi? Political Observer and Pepperdine Professor Joel Fox says the race is probably hers to lose.
“Kevin de Leon is termed out as President in the Senate. He’s an ambitious politician. There is no other office to run for unless he decides to run for governor. The other person is billionaire Tom Styer and both of those are very much from the progressive left. Don’t forget that in California it’s the top two winners in the primary, which make it less likely a Republican could win. So, it’s likely to end up with two Democrats to run in the general election. However, I think that if it ends up to be Senator Feinstein and somebody like DeLeon or Tom Styer, then Feinstein would definitely be the favorite.”
